GAME PLAN: DAY ONE

Overview:

- introduction to The Power of Language in Persuasion

- introduce definition of persuasion

- review of the purpose of a season flashback folder and how it will be evaluated

Objectives:

- to create interest and develop a positive attitude towards the unit

- to give students the opportunity to be involved in the evaluation process

- to enhance open communication in the classroom

-to keep students informed and up-to-date

Rationale:

Our perspective is student centered in that we believe it is important for students to be actively engaged in all aspects of the learning process. By reviewing the evaluation of the flashback folder, students will re-evaluate the positive and negative aspects of their prior flashback folders. This time will allow them to reflect on their own learning process.

Practice on your own:

Have students listen for examples of persuasion in every day conversations. Have students record and reflect on the conversation. What type of language was used? How did the person present themselves? What was the context of the persuasion?

Ask students to form new Team Huddles by Day Three. Huddles may have three to four students in them.
