GAME PLAN: DAY FOUR
Overview:
-give students time to discuss the novel
-compare and contrast the movie and the novel
-group discussion
Objectives:
-to encourage the students to make a personal connection with the novel
-to have students critically examine how different texts express different meaning based on the medium utilized
-to give students time to practice and develop positive communication skills
Rationale:
Our purpose for this day is to create an environment where students can communicate in an open forum. It is our hope that students can begin to explore The Wave as a novel, as well as work on their media literacy skills by asking them to question their perspective.
Resources:
-playbooks
-Text: The Wave
Layout and Activities:
-pre-game warm-up: What character in The Wave can you identify with and why? Did you choose your homework quote for this reason? Please write the quote you found in your playbooks. (5 min)
-Team Huddles (15 min)
-share freewrites that were assigned for homework
-share pre-game warm-ups (any trends in choices, have groups discuss who they identify with and how it is a form of persuasion)
-Team Time (20 min)
-what do you think are Mr. Ross' objectives?
