NOTES FOR CAPRA'S PRELUDE TO WAR:
Prelude to War was made in 1942 by Frank Capra. The film was funded by the government. The government had access to reality but they edited the film to show how evilness of the German army. The documentary was used to gain excitement for the war and encourage young men in the general public to join the armed forces.
ELEMENTS OF PERSUASION UTILIZED:
Germans are given no names = dehumanizing quality
Use patriotic music to portray Americans and foreboding doom music to portray the Germans
Use voice over to change Hitler's words
Speed up the German film = makes them look like a rat race
Show Americans marching in a unified manner and then show the Germans setting off canons
