GOALS/OBJECTIVES

*To assess students' understanding and comprehension of the play Macbeth.

*To provide an alternative to an exam, in order to allow students to excel and create many opportunities to succeed.

*To allow student's to interpret in their own language in a performance-orientated atmosphere.

 

ACTIVITIES

*You will be working as part of a group and doing a series of
activities. Be sure to divide the jobs so that each person has
something important to do. A mark will be given for the group as a
whole so it is important that each person do a good job.

Each group will select a part of the play from the parts available
and then do the following activities.

1- Re-write the scene in everyday speech. Be sure to preserve the
original intent and meaning of the scene.
2- Act out or dramatize the scene for the class, using your
re-written dialogue. Be creative and you may use simple props.
Avoid using real fire, firearms, swords or other dangerous objects.
3- Explain the significance of the scene to the class.
4- Hand-in the re-written scene. It would be beneficial to arrange
to have a member of your group either write it out neatly or type
it on a word processor.

FOR THE INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS NO GROUP

Pick one of the scenes above and re-write it in everyday language
and EXPLAIN THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SCENE TO THE PLAY. Hand-in the
written assignment on the due date above.

OUTSIDE ASSIGNMENT

*Review and generate three questions pertaining to Macbeth for tomorrow's Internet activity.

*Bring in completed word journals and be prepared to present your findings.
