GOALS/OBJECTIVES

*To discover William Shakespeare in popular culture.

*To identify Shakespeare's impact on music (from opera to pop)

*To help students realize Shakespeare's influence on film, and television.

 

ACTIVITIES

*Read Robert Frost's poem entitled "Out, Out" and answer the questions on handout.

*Read and listen to the lyrics of "The Uninvited Guest"

*Relate both the poem and the song to Macbeth

*Ask students to identify other popular music that makes reference to William Shakespeare and/or his works.

*View small clips of a variety of films that have been made pertaining to William Shakespeare.
