Developmentally Appropriate Practices in Early Childhood Education

Developmentally Appropriate Practices

In 1987 the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) published a Position Statement on developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) for children ages birth through age 8. Briefly, DAP can be defined as those practices which are both age appropriate and individually appropriate for each child.
